He has a special interest in minimally invasive colorectal surgery as well as recurrent and locally invasive colorectal cancers. He is actively involved in colorectal cancer research and has multiple publications in the field. Dr Luqman completed the Fellowship in Pelvic Exenteration and Colorectal Surgery at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital in Sydney, Australia. He obtained the Fellowship of Colorectal Surgery (Malaysia) in 2015.
